Background

Since the 1991 phenol spill and 1994 ammonia-nitrogen incidents in the Nakdonggang River, on which Daegu Metropolitan City relies for 67 percent of its domestic water supply, public distrust of tap water grew, necessitating a groundbreaking water quality improvement plan. To address the deterioration of raw water quality and the diversification of pollutant sources due to industrialization and urbanization, we needed to ensure complete water purification, effectively respond to unexpected water pollution incidents, supplement deficiencies in existing purification processes, and meet strengthened drinking water quality standards in order to produce safer tap water.

Advanced Treatment Process

This is a scientific purification process in addition to the current standard water treatment process. It removes odor-causing substances, carcinogens (THMs), and other dissolved substances in water that are difficult to eliminate through standard purification methods.
