The Safest Tap Water!

  • Our city's tap water is produced and supplied through modern purification facilities equipped with scientific production systems. It undergoes rigorous water quality inspections from source water to household faucets, making it the safest water available.
  • In addition to the 60 statutory drinking water quality inspection items, we conduct additional water quality testing for a total of 330 items including 30 monitored by the Ministry of Environment and 240 monitored by Daegu.

You Can Drink Tap Water with Confidence.

  • Tap water produced in our city undergoes quarterly water quality inspections by the Tap Water Quality Evaluation Committee, composed of 10 people, from experts to professors and other civilians. The inspection results confirm it meets drinking water standards, proving its safety.
  • The slight disinfectant odor in tap water comes from chlorine, a chemical added during the purification process to eliminate a variety of bacteria. This odor is proof of safety from bacteria and dissipates after boiling or letting the water sit for a short time.

Water You Can Drink for a Lifetime!

  • Water quality standards are based on the assumption that the probability of harm to the human body should be one in 1,000 before determining it is safe, provided a person drinks two liters of water daily for seventy years. For carcinogenicity, the probability is further reduced to one in 100,000 to establish that standard. Daegu’s tap water is produced and supplied at levels far below these standards, making it safe to drink over an entire lifetime.
