Water Meter Reading and Billing Standards

※ Starting July 2011, all business offices will implement bimonthly meter readings and billing for customers with monthly usage of less than 100㎥.
※ Gunwi-gun Office continues monthly meter readings and billing regardless of usage (bimonthly billing is scheduled to be implemented in 2026).

What is Bimonthly Meter Reading and Billing?
- Bimonthly meter reading is a system where water meters are read once every two months. Daegu implemented this system for water supply points with monthly usage under 100㎥.
- Bimonthly billing allows payment of two months' worth of charges on a single bill.
- Bimonthly meter reading and billing seeks to improve water supply management by reducing meter reading costs and minimize citizen inconvenience by decreasing meter reader visits.
Meter Reading Information
- Meter readers from the local service office visit each customer on the designated meter reading date for their area, either monthly or bimonthly.
- For households with remote meter reading terminals installed, meter reading information is transmitted through a remote meter reading system without the need for a meter reader to visit.
※ However, if necessary due to poor data reception, meter and/or terminal malfunction, etc., a meter reader may visit to perform the reading.
Billing Notice
- A meter reader from the local service office will visit each household monthly or bimonthly to deliver the bill.
Electronic Billing (Email and/or KakaoTalk)
- Starting January 2024, you can receive your monthly billing statements via electronic billing (email and/or KakaoTalk).
- If you sign up for electronic billing and opt out of paper statements, you will receive a discount of KRW 200 per statement.
- How to apply: In-person, phone (fax), or online
- Processing time: Immediate
Important Notice
- If you apply for the service by the 10th of each month (the billing adjustment date), you will receive your monthly billing statement around the 14th.
- If you do not use KakaoTalk, the same information will be provided via text message.
- If you have applied for electronic billing, a paper statement (for the current month) will not be provided.
- KakaoTalk messages or text messages provide billing information for the current month. For detailed billing information, please visit the website.
